Katie shared a screenshot on Instagram of a direct message she sent to Kaitlyn Bristowe on Oct. 22, 2016. She sent a message to the former leading lady of “The Bachelorette” after receiving backlash from the public.
“Dearest Beautiful Kaitlyn – I saw a picture on IG of you crying and it broke my heart,” she began, via Reddit. “I’ve never messaged someone I don’t know before, let alone someone as popular as you, but woman to woman I felt like I needed to reach out.”
“I want you to know that you are beautiful inside and out,” Katie continued. “You were my favorite and I enjoyed watching your journey and now getting glimpses of it.”
She apologized for people being “cruel” to her, “You sparkle and people can be jealous. There’s nothing to be gained by bringing someone down, unless it’s just to make yourself feel better.”
